What are helical piers
Helical piles are an anchoring systems for foundations of many types. They can be loaded immediately after installations, unlike concrete or grout which takes time to harden. The are made of different materials depending on the weight that they will need to hold.
How do helical piers work?
The weight or "load" is transferred from the shaft to the helical plate(s) which are driven below grade into the strongest possible soil conditions. The helical pile is “screwed” into the ground by special equipment. Helical piles are unaffected by the presence of a high water table, soft soil conditions, frost and many other conditions.
Can helical piers be moved once installed?
Although not ideal, they can be moved in the event a plan has changed. This makes them more versatile and cost saving that concrete. They cause minimal soil disturbance.
